As you may know, your elected officials in Ohio are requiring us to verify your age before allowing you access to our website. While safety and compliance are at the forefront of our mission, providing your ID every time you want to visit an adult platform raises real concerns about your privacy and data security. We believe there are better ways to protect users online.

Mandating age verification without broad enforcement gives platforms the choice of whether or not to comply. As we've seen in other states, this drives traffic to sites with far fewer safety measures in place. Very few sites are able to compare to the robust Trust and Safety measures we currently have in place. To meaningfully protect children and user privacy, any approach should be enforced consistently against all platforms offering adult content.

The safety of our users is a top priority. We believe that to make the internet safer for everyone, every phone, tablet or computer should start as a kid-safe device, with parental controls turned on. Only verified adults should be able to turn parental controls off, and unlock access to things like apps for adults, or adult content websites. Device-based solutions address the problem at its source, protecting minors across the entire internet rather than on a handful of compliant sites.

Until that approach is adopted, we have made the difficult decision to completely disable access to our website in Ohio.
